Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This is an interesting work; Nevertheless some revisions are needed in order to publish this manuscript.

1. The authors should analyze further the different probe molecules used in photocatalysis ( stearic acid, methylene blue, methyl orange and many many more..)

2. The author should discuss about TiO2 films, and not only powders.

3. There are a lot of papers regarding FDM 3D printing photocatalyst based on TiO2. The authors should include this information.

4. The authors should mention also the effect of doping.

5. The authors could discuss about the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2, using the FQE parameter of Mills etc. al.

6. There are several works in which TiO2 is combined to SiO2, ZnO, graphene etc. The authors should include a paragraph for this case.

Response Reviewer 1:

This is an interesting work; Nevertheless some revisions are needed in order to publish this manuscript.

We thank the reviewer for the suggestions and the opportunity to improve our manuscript.

  1. The authors should analyze further the different probe molecules used in photocatalysis (stearic acid, methylene blue, methyl orange and many many more..)

We considered your suggestion and mentioned the application of different probe molecules used in photocatalysis by different TiO2 (Lines 290-292, 294-297, 201-304, 391-405).

Also, in the literature, we added references (163-173).

  1. The author should discuss about TiO2 films, and not only powders.

We considered your suggestion and mentioned using TiO2 films (Lines 416-434).

Also, in the literature, we added references (86, 175-178).

  1. There are a lot of papers regarding FDM 3D printing photocatalyst based on TiO2. The authors should include this information.

We considered your suggestion and mentioned an FDM 3D printing photocatalyst based on TiO2 (Lines 435-443).

Also, in the literature, we added references (179-181).

  1. The authors should mention also the effect of doping.

We considered your suggestion and mentioned the effect of TiO2 doping (Lines 232-238 and 250-255).

Also, in the literature, we added references (86, 88-96).

  1. The authors could discuss about the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2, using the FQE parameter of Mills etc. al.

We added information about FQE in the manuscript subsection 4.2 (Lines 475-479).

Also, we used this valuable manuscript in subsection 4.1 (Lines 394-400).

Also, in the literature, we added reference (166).

  1. There are several works in which TiO2 is combined to SiO2, ZnO, graphene etc. The authors should include a paragraph for this case.

We considered your suggestion and mentioned TiO2 combined with SiO2, ZnO, graphene, etc. (Lines 284-304).

Also, in the literature, we added references (102, 103, 106, 107).

Reviewer 2 Report

The review entitled" Titanium dioxide as most used photocatalyst for water purification: An overview" has a comprehensive work. The work makes a substantial contribution to the field and well organized. the research is reliable from a scientific standpoint and there are sufficient and suitable references to relevant and earlier works.. However i have some comments:

1- Reaction 22 does not contain attraction cations and repealing anions. S line 424 should" reaction 11 and 12.

2- Line 219&220better to combine with 218to form one paragraph. Also 247 &with 248.

3-The authors mentioned that light intensity  affects the photocatalytic properties of TiO2. .

Does  the time plays a role as well?

4- The authors does not mentioned  about the effect of the temperature on the photocatalytic properties of  TiO2..

Finally, the manuscript is accepted for publication after minor revision.

The review entitled" Titanium dioxide as most used photocatalyst for water purification: An overview" has a comprehensive work. The work makes a substantial contribution to the field and well organized. the research is reliable from a scientific standpoint and there are sufficient and suitable references to relevant and earlier works. However I have some comments:

We thank the reviewer for the suggestions and the opportunity to improve our manuscript.

1- Reaction 22 does not contain attraction cations and repealing anions. S line 424 should" reaction 11 and 12.

Thank you very much for noticing this error, we corrected it (reactions 11 and 12) (Line 504).

2- Line 219&220better to combine with 218to form one paragraph. Also 247 &with 248.

We are very grateful for these suggestions. We formed one paragraph and combined line 220 and line 221, as also line 259 and line 260.

3-The authors mentioned that light intensity  affects the photocatalytic properties of TiO2. .

Does  the time plays a role as well?

Yes, thank you very much for noticing that. We added a sentence to clarify that in chapter 4.2. (Lines 455-457).

4- The authors does not mentioned  about the effect of the temperature on the photocatalytic properties of TiO2.

Yes, thank you very much for noticing that. We added to section 4.4. Effect of temperature in the manuscript explaining the impact of temperature on the photocatalytic properties of TiO2 (Lines 513-538).

Also, in the literature, we added references (203-211).

Finally, the manuscript is accepted for publication after minor revision.

Thank you very much. We hope that you will find our manuscript acceptable for publication after revision.
