Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The scope of the article is very broad and rather explorative, namely the connection between spiritual perfection and mission, in the Orthodox perspective. The consequences of two normative texts in connection with the Philokalia are explored. The article is clearly written and is accessible also for non-specialists. In my view, these explorations are valuable and interesting (also for someone who does not belong to the Orthodox tradition), and the article can certainly be published. However, the various aspects which are explored here, would deserve a more extensive treatment, which can be done in later articles, I think.

Reviewer 2 Report

This is a good essay that makes an original contribution, covers a lot of ground, and is very interesting. I benefitted from reading it.
