Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Editor.

In the attached document I have included my evaluations on each of the sections of the work.

My evaluation suggests, that some studies should be included in the introduction, the methodological section should be improved as it lacks information on the CFD models and on the parameters used for the cultivation and their relation with the energy balance.

the results should be mostly discussed and compared with published literature, some figures need to be improved. Finally the conclusions should be restructured as a summary of the results.

Please refer the document back to me for a second review.

Regards

The authors presented a 3D numerical study on the aerodynamic analysis in large-scaled Venlo greenhouse complex for tomato cultivation.

The presented paper is very interesting and can be accepted for publication after addressing the following points:

The novelty of the paper is to be clearly stated.

The introduction is relatively short and may be extended.

In line 94, the authors mentioned that they are considering steady state equations, but the the general equation presented in Eq.1 is time dependent; to be justified.

The used turbulence model is to be justified.

what is the range of Reynold number corresponding to the considered cases?

The boundary conditions are to be expressed mathematically.

The symmetry plan presented in Fig 4, is very confusing

Information about the characteristics of the used computer and computational time are to be provided.

How is the Ventilation efficiency evaluated?

The paper is to be checked for misprints and grammatical mistakes.
