Dear Colleagues,
Neuropathic pain constitutes a complex clinical challenge, and current medicine has a large spectrum of tests available to investigate the origins of this pain, analyze its functional aspects, and quantify the damage to the nervous system. These tests play a crucial role in supporting the diagnosis of various conditions, also providing fundamental information for the treatment and overall management of patients. This information includes details on the progression of the disease and the response to the therapies adopted. From a treatment perspective, numerous strategies exist. However, many blind spots related to this type of pain exist.
This Special Issue explores neuropathic pain and its assessments from different angles. It delves into the cellular basis, the rehabilitation implications, and the most recent innovations, including new assessment and treatment procedures, innovative management protocols, and integration between diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. We encourage the submission of documents of various kinds, such as reviews, experiments, and clinical cases, with a particular focus on human subjects. Authors are encouraged to contribute documents focusing on the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of pathologies that cause neuropathic pain from different points of view.
The following topics are suggested:
- Molecular and cellular basis of pain.
- Diagnostic measurements: neurophysiology, imaging, scales, and computer-based measures.
- Artificial intelligence in neuropathic pain.
- Treatment strategies: drugs, physical agents, neuropsychology, and surgery.
- Rehabilitation of neuropathic pain.
