Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Special Issue of Brain Sciences titled "Neurogaming: Deciphering the Impact of Interactive Media on Multisensory Decision Making". This Special Issue aims to delve into the evolving field of neurogaming, where the realms of neuroscience, interactive gaming, and multisensory processes converge. We seek submissions that explore how video games and other interactive media influence brain function and decision making through multisensory pathways. Research utilizing advanced neuroimaging techniques, behavioral analysis, computational modeling, and interdisciplinary approaches is particularly welcome. This Special Issue aims to create a multidimensional perspective on neurogaming, highlighting its implications for cognitive enhancement, rehabilitation, and our understanding of multisensory integration.

Contributions may focus on innovative uses of interactive media for cognitive and sensory rehabilitation, mental health treatments, or as educational tools. We welcome research on the efficacy of neurogaming in improving cognitive functions such as attention, memory, and problem-solving skills and its underlying neurobiological mechanisms. Papers that provide insights into the transformative potential of neurogaming in health, therapy, and education, and those utilizing methods such as EEG, MEG, or fMRI to unravel these benefits, are highly encouraged.

For the final part of this Special Issue, we invite forward-thinking articles that explore the future trajectories and technological advancements in neurogaming, particularly in the realm of multisensory decision-making. Submissions may include discussions on emerging trends, theoretical models, new game designs that incorporate multisensory feedback, and integration with technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Contributions addressing the ethical, societal, and psychological aspects of neurogaming are also welcome. This section seeks to provide a visionary outlook on how neurogaming could evolve, impacting our understanding of multisensory processes and shaping future interactions between humans and technology in complex decision-making scenarios.

This call for articles will thus aim to gather a range of scholarly work that underscores the dynamic relationship between neurogaming and multisensory decision making, showcasing current research and future possibilities in this exciting and evolving field.

We are looking forward to receiving your submissions and joining in the collective exploration of this exciting field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Brain Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
