Outstanding Reviewer Award

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the reviewers that have been selected as the winners of the Buildings 2021 Outstanding Reviewer Awards. This award is in appreciation of the high number, timeliness, and quality of reviews delivered in 2021. Both winners will receive CHF 500 (Swiss Francs) each, as well as a certificate and an opportunity to publish a paper, free of charge, in 2022. The winning reviewers are as follows:

Prof. Dr. Francesco Fiorito

Department of Civil, Environmental, Land, Building Engineering and Chemistry, Polytechnic University of Bari, Bari, Italy.

Prof. Fiorito graduated from Polytechnic University with a MSc in Building Engineering in 2001, and a Ph.D. in 2006. Before joining Polytechnic University of Bari as an Associate Professor of Architectural Engineering in 2016, he was an Associate Professor of High-Performance Architecture at the University of New South Wales (2016) and a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Technology at the University of Sydney (2011–2016). His research interests include building construction technologies, façade engineering and design, and the development of strategies and solutions for the mitigation of local and global climate change.

Dr. Paul G. O’Brien

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, Toronto, Canada

Dr. O’Brien holds a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto. He is currently the director of the Advanced Materials for Sustainable Energy Technologies Laboratory (AM-SET-Lab) at York University. At present, his research is focused on thermal energy storage integrated with HVAC systems for the electrification of heating, radiative cooling panels for building applications, building-integrated photovoltaics, energy harvesting windows, and passive solar heating and cooling.
