Dear Colleagues,
Neuroendocrine tumors are rare and heterogeneous diseases characterized by a wide spectrum of clinical behaviors and frequently by resistance to available medical treatments.
They share challenges in diagnosis and management, and in light of the clinical, psychological, and economic burden of these diseases, there is an urgent need to find predictive models for early diagnosis, novel pharmacological targets, strategies to overcome drug resistance, and biomarkers predicting pharmacological responsiveness to the currently available drugs.
Recent advances in the fields of genetics, cell biology and molecular biology techniques can significantly improve our knowledge of neuroendocrine tumor development and progression, as well as aid in the identification of novel therapeutic strategies and predictive biomarkers.
In this Special Issue of Cancers, we welcome original research articles or review articles focusing on both clinical and translational research on neuroendocrine tumors. We hope that such a collection of studies will provide important contributions beyond the state of the art concerning neuroendocrine tumors from scientific, social and healthcare points of view.
