Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to submit your manuscripts to a forthcoming Special Issue entitled "Spirituality in Mental Illness: Exploring Intersections and Influences" in our renowned journal. The relationship between spirituality and mental illness has garnered significant scientific interest over recent years. Increasing evidence suggests that spirituality, traditionally viewed as a non-scientific realm, can play a crucial role in the overall wellbeing, resilience, and recovery of individuals with mental illness. This untapped field of study warrants further exploration to deepen our understanding and improve our clinical practice.

This Special Issue aims to shed light on the intricate and nuanced connection between spirituality and mental health, by encapsulating diverse perspectives, paradigms, and methodologies within the scope of our journal. We strive to create an interdisciplinary discourse that incorporates spirituality into the contemporary understanding of mental illness, aligning with our journal's commitment to advancing the frontiers of knowledge in mental health.

In this Special Issue, we welcome submissions of original research articles, comprehensive reviews, short communications, case reports, and methodological papers. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Influence of spirituality on the course and outcomes of mental illnesses;
  2. The role of spiritual practices in the therapeutic regimen for mental health disorders;
  3. How spirituality is perceived and experienced by individuals with mental illnesses;
  4. Analysis of spiritual coping strategies used by individuals suffering from mental health issues;
  5. Interplay of spirituality, mental health, and social and cultural factors.

By bringing together these themes, we hope to provide a more holistic view of mental health and stimulate meaningful conversations about incorporating spirituality into mental health care and research. We trust that your invaluable contribution will enrich this discourse.

If you have any queries or need further information, do not hesitate to contact us.

I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Best regards,

Dr. J. Kim Penberthy
Guest Editor
