Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue of Heritage focuses on geoarchaeological, landscape, and territoriality investigations as tools for the analysis of the archaeological sites and heritage. We invite you to participate in this Special Issue with different geoarchaeological approaches applied to the research and conservation processes of archaeological heritage.
Current research projects in cultural heritage use spatial analysis as a basis for the interpretation of prehistoric and historic heritage. Topics such as the importance of palaeocological and palaeogeographical analysis, the spatial interpretation of architectural remains or symbolic contexts are key issues for the interpretation of different cultural and social processes, and for highlighting the importance of the archaeological heritage are welcome. In this sense, one of the main objectives of this Special Issue is also to emphasize the use of several informatical and technological resources (e.g., photogrammetry, geographical information systems, LIDAR, drones) to investigate the development of human settlements in past societies and heritage.
