Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Advancements in optical sensing materials and devices have revolutionized various industries, including healthcare, telecommunications, and environmental monitoring. Optical sensing technology utilizes the properties of light to detect and measure changes in the surrounding environment. This technology has evolved significantly over the years, leading to the development of more efficient and accurate sensing devices. These inventions and innovations in optical sensing materials and devices have had a significant impact on various industries; from fiber optics revolutionizing telecommunications to quantum dots enhancing display technologies, these advancements have improved efficiency, accuracy, and performance in sensing applications. Moreover, optical sensing technology has transformed healthcare diagnostics and environmental monitoring, leading to improved patient care and a better understanding of our changing planet. Here, we invite researchers to submit their original research and review papers related to these topics. The aim of this Special Issue is to provide a platform for researchers to share their latest findings and insights in the field of optical sensing materials and devices. We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Novel materials for optical sensing applications;
  • Optical sensors for chemical and biological sensing;
  • Photonic devices for environmental monitoring;
  • Optical fiber sensors and their applications;
  • Plasmonic and metamaterial-based sensors;
  • Photonic crystals for sensing applications;
  • Optoelectronic devices for sensing and imaging;
  • Advances in optical sensing techniques and instrumentation;

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Inventions is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
