Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Although the burden of many infectious diseases has decreased in recent decades, the COVID-19 pandemic showed that these diseases are still a big threat to human health, and the outbreak of emerging infectious disease is probable at any time. The neglected tropical infectious diseases alongside other bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal infections are responsible for millions of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) and mortalities worldwide. Furthermore, the substantial increase in frequent multidrug-resistant organisms is an important public health problem. Therefore, there is an essential need for more knowledge on the pathogenesis and epidemiology of infectious diseases and the development of new technologies/methods for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of these diseases.

This Special Issue aims to collect the latest research regarding the pathogenesis, diagnosis, epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of all infectious diseases, particularly the latest studies on COVID-19. We welcome original research articles as well as review and systematic review articles. We also welcome papers on zoonotic (viral, parasitic, and bacterial) diseases in animals and their impact on human health.
