Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The common challenges that humanity faces are resource, energy, and environmental issues. Consequently, there is a growing worldwide consensus on sustainable development. The production processes of the metallurgical industry will consume a large amount of energy and resources, generate a large number of by-products or wastes (such as slag, dust, sludge, flue gas, wastewater, etc.), and discharge a lot of CO2 and environmental pollutants (such as SOx, NOx, dioxins, and heavy metal elements). It is critical for the long-term development of the metallurgical industry to make efficient and comprehensive use of valuable components in by-products while reducing pollutant emissions.

In recent years, researchers have conducted extensive research on the above issues, process technologies on energy conservation and emission reduction have been effectively applied, and the related secondary development products have been successfully used in the environmental protection industry, construction industry, agriculture, and ceramic industry.

This Special Issue focuses on the safe disposal and utilization of metallurgical industry by-products, as well as the treatment of and reduction in pollutant emissions and energy conservation. Submissions are encouraged for articles that focus on advanced ideas, theories, and technical methods in the aforementioned fields, with the goal of contributing to energy conservation and emission reduction in the metallurgical industry.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Metals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
