Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Metal-Matrix Composites (MMCs) find applications in various fields of engineering, where there is a requirement for high strength and lightweight. Essentially, these materials are used in automobile, aeronautical, aerospace and marine applications. Some of these materials are used as nuclear emission suppressors, materials for building machine tools, structural members of ships and yachts, and materials for fuselage in aircrafts.

The application of such materials highly depends on its physical and thermal properties, magnetic and electrical properties and metallurgical properties. The correlation between the metallurgy and other properties have been studied since the 1990s. However, with the invention and innovations done of material combinations, processing techniques and other related parameters, the necessity to study property correlation and behavioral mechanics is still an important topic of study.

The crux of this special issue of Metals is to identify various processes that are currently being used to manufacture MMCs, different combinations that are being tried and tested by researchers, property correlations and specific properties that are independent of other parameters. This issue will deliver the state-of-the-art for the year 2022-23 on the relevance of MMCs to modern industries. Hence, your contribution to this journal is highly valued and appreciated. As guest editors, we invite you to submit your original work to this special issue and contribute to the scientific knowledge repository for Metal-Matrix Composites.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Metals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
