Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is a pleasure to announce the next Separations Special Issue entitled “Deep Eutectic Solvents Used in Microextraction Techniques”, which will compile a collection of state-of-the-art deep eutectic solvents (DESs) in the field of miniaturized extraction procedures.

The new trends in analytical chemistry, and in particular, in extraction procedures, are directed towards more sustainable methodologies whose repercussions for the environment are eliminated or minimized. In this sense, the development of alternative solvents, such as DESs or natural DESs (NADESs), has had a positive impact on analytical chemistry applications. Due to their unique characteristics and physicochemical properties, these solvents have been postulated as a good option to displace the conventional solvents used in extraction techniques.

This Special Issue aims to present the most recent applications of DESs and NADESs in microextraction techniques and provide an updated and critical overview of recent advances and future trends in sample preparation. Research involving combinations of DESs with other (nano)materials is also welcome.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Separations is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
