Management of Antimicrobial Use in Domestic Animals

Dear Colleagues,

Disease diagnosis, prevention, and effective treatment of disease are areas in which remarkable improvements have been observed in domestic animals over the years. Although alternatives to antibiotics have been developed, antibiotics remain a critical tool for veterinarians to effectively treat infections. In order to maintain the effectiveness of antibiotics, a shared resource between humans and animals is critical for both populations. Evidence-based data are needed to continue to support the effective use of antibiotics in a matter that reduces unnecessary usage while ensuring animal health, well-being, and productivity when of relevance.

This Special Issue will include research that generates novel evidence-based data to continue to support the advancement of antimicrobial stewardship management practices in domestic animals. This is a problem for which creative, innovative, and multidisciplinary approaches are needed.
