Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

L37: Citation needed
L46-53: Consider rewriting, too much use of the word " on the other hand"

L109: How the keywords were chosen? If possible mention the percentage of occurrence of each keyword within the searched database

NLP could be more suitable method

Extensive rewritting is needed as many sentences are long, hard to follow.

Reviewer 2 Report

This paper reviews previous studies related to road traffic operation risk prevention and control, which is one of the important research aspects in the field of traffic safety. I have some concerns showing as follows,

1. It seems that it is not necessary to emphasize what data resources the studies are cited from, let alone make a special review of Chinese papers.

2. The authors summarize the previous papers in the form of statistics of the number of keywords, and analyze what are the focuses of he previous studies and what aspects are not covered. For a review paper, this approach is somewhat "superficial". If we analyze and compare the research methods of previous papers in traffic safety, and explain which methods are better and which methods are more worthy of application, I am afraid it will be more meaningful.

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors conducted a comprehensive analysis of the literature on the traffic operation risk prevention and control from Web of Science Core Collection and Chinese Science Citation Database.  The future research is recommended on this basis.  The paper is well written.  There are minor comments that should be addressed as follows.

·       On line 47, the phrase “….traffic managements [3-5], which is affected by driving behaviors,…” is unclear.  Do the authors mean traffic managements are affected by driving behaviors or road traffic safety is affected by driving behaviors.   Please rewrite this.

·       On line 184, should the phrase “papers with the top 200 citations in each period” be rewritten as “200 papers with the top citations”?

·       On line 229, “GUO et al.” should read “Guo et al.”.

·       On lines 352-353, please define these abbreviations “UAV”, “ADAS”, “IoT”, “V2X”, “V2V” as they first appear in the manuscript.

·       On line 395, “relative researchers” should read “related researchers”.

·       The authors should explain why different overlapping time periods are used in the keyword feature analysis in Sections 3.1.4 and 3.2.4.   In both sections, the periods are five-year, but they are not the same periods; e.g., in Section 3.1.4, the period from 2001 to 2005 is used whereas in in section 3.2.4, the period from 2004 to 2008 is used.

·       The future research directions suggested by the authors should be summarized in a table format in Sections 3.1.4 and 3.2.4.
