Reviewer Comments:

  • abstract needs improvement

Ans: I have rewritten parts of the abstract to ensure that it follows a single tense throughout. Furthermore, the abstract fully summarizes the entire article, including the results

  • ECO should be defined? what is ECO? Economy?
  • Explain what ECO means

Ans: The ECO is defined in detail in section 4, "Eco Features", lines 899-904

  • 175 change the chapter to section

Ans: Done

  • 159 Reference to Assured- what it is (you explained in latter stage)

Ans: ASSURED is described in section 1, lines 156-160

  • 226 In eq  1, why cos a+sin a?

Ans: m.g.Fr.cos(a) is used for the rolling resistance, while m.g.sin(a) is used for the grade resistance. explanation is given in section 2.1, lines 348-351

  • 475 figure numbers are incorrect should be changed to 6 etc…

Ans: I did not understand this comment. The figure numbers looks good to me.

Reviewer 2 Report

  • Please reduce the number of Information from web sites and increase the share of academic papers.
  • Also in figure 1 the percentage share of each category should be given, otherwise it is too qualitative.
  • Please use a blank space between number und unit "1 km" instead of 1km".
  • Please add a list of acronomys
  • Please transfer the Appendix to supplementary materials
  • Less figures would be better to improve general readability. Please focus on really needed figure and sub-Panels. A textual Explanation of what can be seen and what is interesting in a Chart is often more helpful than to be "over-whelmed" by illustrations
  • Please reduce the Level of Detail of the equations and Focus on the important ones, the full set might alsbo be transferred into the supplementary materials.

Author Response

  • Please reduce the number of Information from web sites and increase the share of academic papers.

Ans: I have done so, I have replaced a lot of the web information with actual articles from journals/conferences. Now they constitute more than two thirds of the references

  • Also in figure 1 the percentage share of each category should be given, otherwise it is too qualitative.

Ans: Done. I made the break down with respect to mass of CO2 emission by sector

  • Please use a blank space between number und unit "1 km" instead of 1km".

Ans: Done!

  • Please add a list of acronomys

Ans: Done. Section 0 was added and the abbreviations are given in ascending order

  • Please transfer the Appendix to supplementary materials

Ans: Done

  • Less figures would be better to improve general readability. Please focus on really needed figure and sub-Panels. A textual Explanation of what can be seen and what is interesting in a Chart is often more helpful than to be "over-whelmed" by illustrations

Ans: I have provided the minimal amount of simulation figures, just to provide a snapshot.  The remaining simulation data were provided as charts.

  • Please reduce the Level of Detail of the equations and Focus on the important ones, the full set might alsbo be transferred into the supplementary materials.

Ans: Done! extensive re-write of section 2.1 and 2.2 to remove the equations to Supplementary materials.
