Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors.

This article is well written.

Both CSR and SD and, as a consequence SHRM are overdeveloped in the context of dimensions and underdeveloped in the definition part. This paper is another example of abovementioned statement. In Layman's terms it is "the old wine in a new bottle". A such, there is novelty in it.

To enrich the paper, recommend to analyse the origins of CSR. F.E.

Dear Reviewer.

Thank you for your insightful comments on our article. We appreciate the time you have committed to providing us with constructive feedback. Your suggestions have been carefully addressed and hopefully, the adjustments that we have made will be well received.

We have attempted to develop further the concepts of CSR, SD, and sustainable HRM, also including the article that you have gracefully entailed in your comment. The origins of CSR have not been analyzed in much detail due to the fact that it is not the core concept of our article. Nevertheless, we have attempted to include more definitions and authors that have contributed to this topic.

We believe that your comments and suggestions have been very insightful and helpful in improving our article and in that respect, we thank you dearly.

Sincerely,

Authors

  1. Enjoyed reading :-).
  2. Abstract. Reading the abstract the content of it is not clear because teh reader should be guessing the meaning of SHRM (strategic HRM) and sustainable HRM (thus, SHRM also). I think better to clear that ambiguity as later on some readers will be choosing your article by reading first the abstract.
  3. I would invest more and would suggest to investigate further the long-term aspect of strategic and sustainable phenomenons.
  4. Body of the article. Construction of the article. I think that a big part of your discussion is some parts of literature review and some of them - results of theoretical analysis (deduction) that brought you to your new induction.  And you mix it with elements of discussion. I would suggest to update structure of the article and discerning the results part and that of discussions.
  5. References. Out of 42 references, some 13 I would say are older ones ( in terms of the subject under discussion) and having in mind that the article is literature review type one I would suggest to extend, develop further the review of the literature .

Dear Reviewer.

Thank you for your insightful comments on our article. I appreciate the time you have committed to providing us with constructive feedback. Your suggestions have been carefully addressed and hopefully, the adjustments that we have made will be well received.

We appreciate greatly the comment regarding the abstract, which we have cleared so that the reader indeed understands clearly that both strategic and sustainable HRM are addressed in the article.

We have also attempted to investigate further the short- and long-term aspect of both strategic and sustainable phenomenons through various authors that are prominent in this field. Hopefully, we have addressed these concepts in adequate detail.

The body of the article has been reconstructed thoroughly so that the structure of the article is clearer that it previously was.

Regarding the comment about the references, we have extended the existing literature so that the review of the literature is enriched with other influential authors in this field.

We believe that your comments and suggestions have been very insightful and helpful in improving our article and in that respect, we thank you dearly.

Sincerely,

Authors

Reviewer 3 Report

The article entitled: "The Role of Sustainable HRM in Sustainable Development" is well prepared, but requires minor adjustments before publishing.

  • Abstract: I recommend that the article has only one main aim! Line 15-19. (The aspiration of the paper is to pose a new model of our understanding of sustainability by implementing sustainable HRM at the center of sustainable development and corporate accountability as a measurement of levels of sustainable development in which organizations find themselves in and report on. Second, the aim is to form a more comprehensive model of sustainable HRM which could bare the potential to be applicative in practice.)
  • I recommend the authors to complete the literature review using the VOS viewer software so that the article has the added value created by the authors.
  • I also recommend that authors use more literary sources to define SHRM. SHRM is the central theme of the paper, but more attention needs to be paid to the concept.
  • Next, the authors need to rework the Figures: Figure 1, looks to be scanned, it should be redrawn by the authors. Figure 2 should make the authors more graphically redesigned. Figure 3 is illegible.
  • Authors must work on a formal editing of the document! References are not correctly stated in the text or in the list of used literature (References).

I wish the authors much success in their work.

Dear Reviewer.

Thank you for your insightful comments on our article. I appreciate the time you have committed to providing us with constructive feedback. Your suggestions have been carefully addressed and hopefully, the adjustments that we have made will be well received.

We understand and appreciate the argument in regards to being only one main aim of the article. However, given the fact that we have proposed two models, we have coupled them into one main aim, which it in fact represents.

Regarding the VOS viewer software, we have entailed a shortened review of articles on the topic of sustainable HRM, that were obtained on the Web of Science in the time period from 1987 to 2021. Given the fact that the results were extensive, we did not analyze them in detail, as this would require an autonomous article. Our aim was only to provide the reader a narrow insight into the topic of sustainable HRM within articles on Web of Science as to get an insight into how the term is used, in which dimensions of sustainable development, and to what concepts and topics it relates to.

We have also added new definitions of sustainable HRM so that there is a fuller comprehension of the concept itself and how it is perceived, defined, and acknowledged by different authors. However, it is worth mentioning that there are not many precise definitions of sustainable HRM within the literature, apart from those, provided by influential authors in this field.

As you have meticulously noted, some figures were somewhat illegible. For that reason, all three addressed figures have been altered in a way that they are clearer and more comprehensible for the reader.

In the end, references have been corrected, and for this inaccuracy, we apologize.

We believe that your comments and suggestions have been very insightful and helpful in improving our article and in that respect, we thank you dearly.

Sincerely,

Authors
