Title: Measurement of Suspension Velocity of Peanut and Clay-Heavy Soil Using the CFD-DEM Coupling Method

Research aim:

The following research presents an experiment and simulation study of suspension velocity of single and double kernel peanuts, under different water content and lumpy conditions, the suspension velocities of smaller clods, side by side clods and larger clods were investigated, the topic is very important and it is relevant in the field, certainly it would contribute to help industry to improve and develop new technology.

General comments:

1)      Title: the study present two parts experiment a simulation. So, the tile should be change to add the simulation “measurement and CFD simulation of Suspension Velocity of Peanut and Clay-Heavy Soil under different water content

2)     abstract : authors should revise the paragraph from line 26 to 30 , “The results  indicate a significant difference in the suspension velocity between peanuts and clay-heavy clods, which can be distinguished from each other based on this difference  Furthermore,  the simulation results  have been found to be consistent with the experimental results, thus verifying the feasibility of measuring the material suspension velocity using CFD-DEM gas-solid coupling.,

3)     Authors should separate the simulation part from the materials and methods paragraph

4)     Paragraph 2.1 is very long and contains a lot of details which not necessary. so we suggest to reduce this paragraph by merging  the following sub-paragraphs 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3 and 2.1.4

5)     A CFD theory paragraph is necessary; authors must add the simulation theory (transport equations, Mass conservation equation, Momentum equation, Turbulent kinetic energy equation, Turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate equation, Species Transport Equations, …..)

6)     Figure (7d)  not clear, authors plot speed versus different water content, but not indicate for each clod type (smaller, side by side or larger clods)

7)     Figue 9; the legend indicates 2 variables  (two color) but in the representtaion we have 3 colors!!, in this same figure we show a significant diffrence between simulated an measured values in some case , how  authors can explain this?

8)     The analysis part is poor; authors try only to describe  results. so,  the founding  need more discussion and explain according to the theory and literature results

Authors used a correct, easy, clear and well understood English language

Reviewer 2 Report

Authors presented interesting paper about: Measurement of Suspension Velocity of Peanut and Clay- 2 Heavy Soil Using the CFD-DEM Coupling Method. There are some issues that can be improved in paper:

1. The conclusions are described in a too laconic way, it would be necessary to expand them with information about the impact of the conducted research on practice or science and what is innovative about them.

2. There is no information on what is the purpose of the publication and what is the main research problem.

3. The ANOVA test was used to assess the significance of the impact of water on suspension velocity, but there is no information about the fulfillment of its basic assumptions by the data analyzed, regarding the normal distribution and equality of variances. Please complete this information.
