Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This resubmitted version has accepted my previous comments, and I now think it is a fine paper to be acceptted by Water.

For one-dimensional simulation of water hammer problem, this should be one of the comprehensive and insight reviews.

However, 3D simulations of water hammer and pressure pulsations in pump-turbines and hydraulic systems should be the most important research direction of recent years.

Reviewer 2 Report

I have no comments

This manuscript is a resubmission of an earlier submission. The following is a list of the peer review reports and author responses from that submission.

Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

There is a more comprehensive review report this time. It was made in a hurry and I apologize possible misprints.

Reviewer 2 Report

This revised version is better in expression logic.

However, on the contents, I feel some new progress in 2D and 3D simulation methods for water hammer should be briefly addressed, because this manuscript is a review, which needs perspective views.

Such as  Simulation of the load rejection transient process of a Francis turbine by using a 1-D-3-D coupling approach, Journal of Hydrodynamics, 2014,26(5):715-724

Also, the speedup of the existing methods by multiple CPU or GPU for efficient simulations of practical engineering problems should also be mentioned.

Such as GPU Acceleration of Hydraulic Transient Simulations of Large-Scale Water Supply Systems. Appl. Sci. 2019, 9, 91:1-14

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

There is progress, but still work to be done. I have tried to do my best in the comments.

This paper is still quite a mess. The authors have collected a vast amount of material, but capability to utilize that is too restrictive.
