Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This is a very interesting paper that should be published. The results provide a third comprehensive "molecular" phylogeny of Vespidae (after Bank et al. 2017 and Piekarski et al. 2018) and for the first time more than one species of Stenogastrinae is included. It is also remarkable that the Leptochilus clade is now not sister to Eumeninae (as it was in previous studies) but to the main clade of "Odynerini" (Symmorphus to Rhynchium).

I would say that "species" should be abbreviated with fullstop (sp.) through the text and in the figures as well. A few typos are marked in the attached file. The references are sometimes inaccurate, I have found some mistakes marked in the file but I didn't check everything. Therefore I strongly recommend to check them carefully and correct when necessary.

Author Response

We are very grateful for the reviewer’s comments and accepted them.

(1) We have corrected all the abbreviated “sp.” through the text and all the figures as well.

(2) We have corrected all the errors marked by the reviewer. And we have thoroughly and carefully checked our manuscript again and corrected a bit minor errors.

(3) We have also corrected the errors in references.

Reviewer 2 Report

This article uses phylogenetic analyses to clarify the relationships within the subfamily Eumeninae. The authors provide newly evidences of 52 eumenine mitogenomes, give comprehensive comparisons among them especially on trnM gens. The main contribution of this article is to affirm that phylogenetics on Eumeninae and Zethinae.

The overall structure of the article is clearly described, the purpose is clear, and the fluency of writing skill is good for read. The author has sufficient knowledge about systematics of Vespidae.

Excessive links can be removed from references 41,59 and 60.

Author Response

We are very grateful for the reviewer's important suggestion. And we have removed the excessive links for references 41,59 and 60.

This manuscript is a resubmission of an earlier submission. The following is a list of the peer review reports and author responses from that submission.
