Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear authors, the article is well structured, pleasant to read and presents a commendable forecast model. Here are some ideas for improving your work.

In materials and methods a section is missing in which the sensors that you used for the detection of environmental variables should be described. The type of sensors, the precision and the timing of the data acquisition are some of the information that is missing to complete the experimental protocol and allow the repeatability of the method.

Figures and tables should all be improved because they are difficult to read.

This is an interesting paper on big data analysis methods.

Some of the main points that need to be discussed are:

  1. The concept of big data need to be discussed more deeply.
  2. Some descriptive statistical analysis methods should have to be introduced.
  3. Data sources should have to described in detail.
  4. Some discussion on the eventual use of panel data models should have to be made. Why Panel Data methods are not used in the paper? Some discussion on this issue could be useful.
  5. Some further discussion on the agronomic methods which have been used is needed, and could be very useful.
  6. Specially, a more detailed description on the data sources which are used is needed.
