Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Digestate need stabilization/disinfection before agricultural utilization. Membrane separation and AOPs are suitable for this purpose. Combination of these two processes has several advantages over the conventionally used sanitation technologies. Therefore, the topic of the manuscript can be considered as interesting and can provide useful information for the readers. The manuscript is generally well structured. Introduction summarizes well the background and relevance of the study. The specific research motivations are defined well. The applied methods for chemical and microbial analysis are adequate. Experimental set-up, materials and methods are described well. The mnauscript contains novel, significant and valuable results not just for the science but also for the practice. The results are represented well and discussed with relevant references.

Comments, suggestions:

The visibility of Figure 2 and Figure 4 is poor. Please improve the visibility of axis titles, units, labels etc.

Have the authors information related to the penetration depth of UV radiation,

Please discuss briefly the specific key operational parameters for process scale-up, and the energy need of the combined process, as well.

- Abstract should rewritten to contain the main quantitative results;

- Novelty must be improved;

- The long-term stability of the proposed technology must be evaluated.

- The global quality of the water must be assessed.

English language must be polished along the manuscript.

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript needs to be revised by a native English speaker or a professional language editing service to improve the grammar and readability.

The introduction part is too long, it should be shortened.

Concise more on the disinfection part and literature related to that.

Please write in details the methods applied for analysis.

What is the analysis applied to assure the preparation of TiO2?

"After confirming the effectiveness of the photocatalytic arrangements with inoculated water samples (data not shown)" ... These data should be added.

Statistical analysis for all obtained data should be performed and added.

What is the feasibility of the suggested process??

The discussion of the obtained data is too weak, and it should be enriched.

Why did you add references in the conclusion part?

How many times the membrane can be used?

The interpretation of the obtained data needs to be enriched and to be more clarified.
