Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript studies the influence of the chassis in the spatial distribution of the magnetic field generated by a wireless power transfer system. A subsequent study then evaluates the electric field exposure of the human body. By means of a detailed model that takes into account a real vehicle chassis structure, the authors demonstrate that the foot region of the driver is subject to levels above the basic restriction. Furthermore, a material comparison demonstrates that the situation worsens when the standard chassis aluminum alloy is replaced by a more modern carbon fiber compound.

The paper is very clear, well written and presents an easy-to-follow approach. The topics are coherent with the target journal.

However, I would suggest a few points for the authors.

1) The novelty of the work is not highlighted anywhere in the manuscript. Please dedicate a small portion of the introduction to stress out the scientific relevance of the present work.

2) Please elaborate more on the advantages of the used approach (BEM + SIBCs) when compared to other alternatives.

3) When dealing with such a complex model, it would be interesting to have relevant indicators of the computational effort, mesh sizes and time to solution convergence.

4) I have noticed very few language inconsistencies, please proof-read the draft before resubmission.

Interesting analysis of how electromagnetic fields affect both the exterior and the interior of a vehicle during wireless charging.

It would be interesting to describe how the electromagnetic field increases in the affected body areas during fast charging processes in which the power handled is clearly higher. This type of fast charging process is becoming more common and can foreseeably lead to higher field strengths, exceeding the permitted limits.

Another aspect to consider is the operating frequency of the charger, the use of SiC switches allows to significantly increase the converter switching frequency. Could this fact significantly condition the results obtained?.

Check the typographical errors, (E.g. page 111 2nd word)

The authors have addressed my concerns thoroughly. From my side, the paper can be published in its present form.
