Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Huang et al, in this study describes 3 cases of cataract surgery suggesting the use of 20% SF6 to manage the DMD. Use of 20% SF6 for managing DMD after cataract surgery has been suggested by several authors eg; (Chaurasia et al, J Cataract Refract Surg 2013; Singh et al, IP International Journal of Ocular Oncology & Oculoplasty, 2019). Introduction lacks proper background and does not explains why this report is novel. Method for study is not well described. Also, the conclusion from the 3 cases is a repetition of previous studies and is already known.

Reviewer 2 Report

Huang et al’s paper is an interesting case series to the field of Descemet’s membrane detachment. Plagiarism check showed no plagiarized data. However, some minor issues need to be addressed before acceptance for publication:

Materials and Methods section is underdeveloped and needs further improvement. I suggest to add the methodology for anterior segment optical coherence tomography measurement, slit lamp, BCVA assessment, injection of 20 % SF6. These are important issues that need to be developed in the paper.

Ethics statement and more specifically IRB approval and number is missing and needs to be added as the first subsection in the Material and Methods.

Line 45-46: this phrase is misplaced, it should not be in the material and methods section, it should be put as objective of the study (introduction section)..

A characteristics table is lacking, I suggest that authors add the following: Patient demographics and characteristics of cases presenting with a postoperative DMD.

Samarawickrama et al in 2016 proposed a classification of DMD patients into two groups : peripheral and central DMD.Authors are encouraged to discuss this point and indicate to what classes their patients belong.

Suggestion: authors might consider the possibility to publish their findings in a case series/report format instead of article, especially if the M&M cant be comprehensively developed…

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

In the revised version of the manuscript, Huang et al, have rewritten the introduction providing enough background for the study and have included the relevant references. The material methods section is described well and also the table in the result section is informative of the readers. This case study cautions the clinicians about variabilty of SF6 descemetopexy outcome in DMD treatment.
