This manuscript calculates the mode structure of a “crystalline” membrane whose equilibrium state has curvature that breaks up-down symmetry.  The new interaction takes the form of

Div u \nabla^2 f

and provides interesting q^3 couplings in the equation of motion.  The eigenmodes develop imaginary parts in certain ranges of wavenumber.  I recommend publication.  A few typos and confusing English should be corrected.

  1. I am not sure how to interpret “even with respect to ”up-down” symmetry” in the second paragraph.
  2. 4 lines before Eq. (2), “Moreover it can be broken not uniformly over the membrane” -> “Moreover, it can be nonuniformly broken over the membrane…”
  3. (2) div should be in roman, not italic type. Alternatively, use {\bm \nabla} \cdot
  4. It would be better to write $\gamma_{\text{int}}$ rather than simply $\gamma_{\int}$.
  5. 2 lines after Eq. (9), “since the are no any” -> “since there are not any”

The example provided in this work illustrates basic ideas that are quite general and applicable to a large variety of interesting physical systems.
