Dear Colleagues,
Faced with the growth of cross-border markets and the new opportunities they bring to players involved in cross-border cooperation, there is an urgent need to develop common policies and strategies. These policies must promote the interoperability of legal systems and of services and the rationalization of resources and means through the pooling of knowledge and competencies. The aim is to strengthen the harmonious development of partner towns and the cohesion of the entire region. This approach aims to optimize the services provided to borderlands citizens (for example, cultural services, touristic, transport, medical) and lead to the implementation of cross-border cooperation projects. It comprises the joint planning of strategic priorities for the future of the cross-border territory, the cross-border establishment and management of public services and facilities, and financing of integrated cooperation initiatives. It is very important that in their cross-border initiatives, local or regional authorities think in terms of “co-financing” by organizing common "roundtables", i.e., by mobilizing all of the levels concerned to secure financing for the cross-border project. In this context, this Special Issue encourages researchers and scholars to send contributions on these critical issues or about any other related topic that may promote the conceptual and practical development of public services in cross-border cities and regions.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Administrative Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
