Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The wide spectrum of gynecologic cancers and precursor lesions make diagnosis a challenge in some cases in daily practice. For a form of rare gynecologic cancer, the challenge is even greater. The field is advancing with new innovations, classifications, and the introduction of prognostic and predictive markers, which necessitate more publications, review article, case series, .etc., to emphasis the up-to-date information.  This Special Issue aims to publish high-quality, up-to-date information about gynecologic cancers and precursor lesions with an emphasis on molecular and immunohistochemical profiling, especially for uncommon and rare entities.  The titles will cover: (1) vulvar lesions, which include, but are not limited to, soft tissue neoplasia, adenoid cystic and adenoid basal carcinomas; (2) cervical lesions, including neuroendocrine tumors, gastric-type adenocarcinoma, and clear cell carcinoma; (3) endometrial lesions, including mesenchymal tumors, serous endometrial intraepithelial carcinoma, and carcinosarcoma; (4) adnexal lesions, including Wolffian-origin female adnexal tumors, serous intraepithelial carcinoma, other precursor lesions, mucinous and seromucinous carcinomas, germ cell tumors, and sex cord stromal tumors; (5) gestational tumors, including molar pregnancy, placental site trophoblastic tumors, epithelioid trophoblastic tumors, and choriocarcinoma.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cancers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Endometrial carcinoma stands as the most prevalent gynecological cancer and the fourth most common cancer affecting women. The incidence of endometrial cancer has been steadily increasing over the past decade, posing a significant threat to public health. The early detection of its precancers remains a critical and evolving concern to reduce mortality associated with endometrial carcinoma. In the last decade, our understanding of endometrial carcinoma and its precancers has advanced through systematic investigations into the molecular genetics of endometrial carcinoma and its precancers. In this review, we focus on advances in precancers associated with the endometrioid subtype, by far the most common histologic variant of endometrial adenocarcinoma. Recent investigations have led to the identification of new biomarkers, and the proposed incorporation of these biomarkers or biomarker panels into the diagnostic framework of endometrial carcinoma precancers. Here, we review these recent advances and their relevance to the histopathologic diagnosis of endometrial carcinoma precancers. Full article
