Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is a well-established treatment for several medical conditions including Parkinson’s Disease (PD), essential tremor (ET), dystonia, obsessive compulsive disorders, depression, and pain. In recent years, besides the software and hardware innovations that have accompanied the development of new pharadigms of stimulation, two of the main aims of research have been improvements in patient selection for DBS surgery, and a better definition of surgical outcomes in the long-term. Despite this, evidence gaps persist at several points. The aim of this Special Issue is to provide a comprehensive overview of the clinical advances of DBS in movement disorders including PD, ET, and dystonia, with particular interests in the application of innovative techniques and technologies, the definition of long-term outcomes, and the identification of clinical predictive factors of motor and non-motor outcomes. Therefore, researchers in the field of DBS are encouraged to submit their findings as original articles and reviews to this Special Issue.
