Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS) address the treatment of pelvic floor disorders, including fecal and urinary incontinence, vaginal prolapse and pelvic pain.

FPMRS has made significant strides in recent years, with advancements in minimally invasive techniques, regenerative medicine, personalized medicine and a multidisciplinary approach to help women at various stages of life. New medical evaluations include MRI and sonography, and fundamental research can improve the care of patients. Along with several challenges that continue to shape the landscape of this specialized medical and surgical discipline, this topical summary aims to provide an overview of the key advances and challenges in FPMRS, highlighting the progress made and the areas that require further attention.
