Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Changes in climate patterns are impacting food production, livelihoods, biodiversity, justice, and a range of other social and ecological processes in the Caribbean. Climate change will continue to impact these landscapes, in both social and ecological dimensions, at multiple scales throughout the region. The region’s diversity, as well as the associated diversity in the impacts of climate change, holds the potential to offer strategies that could enhance responses to climate change. Despite the relatively small geographic extent and economic reach of the Caribbean, the impact of climate change is significant.

This Special Issue seeks to bring together a multi-disciplinary presentation of the myriad of social and ecological impacts of climate change in the Caribbean. It will highlight the range of impacts of climate change within the region, bringing into contrast the internal diversity alongside regional commonalties.

We are interested in empirical, conceptual/theoretical, and review contributions that examine the impacts of climate change on varied aspects of land systems, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Land use processes;
  • Changes in biodiversity;
  • Vulnerability and resilience;
  • Mitigation and adaptation strategies;
  • Climate justice;
  • Intersection of climate justice, risk, and policy.
