Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Agriculture is a complex and dynamic system where the interactions between soil, water, and hydrology play a pivotal role in determining the sustainability and productivity of farming practices. Traditional approaches often treat these components in isolation, limiting our ability to comprehensively understand and manage the intricate relationships within agricultural landscapes. However, the integration of advanced modeling approaches has emerged as a transformative solution, providing a holistic perspective that captures the synergies and feedback loops between soil, water, and hydrology.

This Special Issue aims to explore the synergy between soil, water, and hydrology dynamics in agricultural systems, leveraging advanced modeling techniques to address the multifaceted challenges associated with sustainable land use and water resource management. By bringing together diverse perspectives and methodologies, this issue seeks to advance our understanding of the complex interactions shaping agricultural landscapes.

This Special Issue will welcome manuscripts that link the following themes:

  • Innovative modeling frameworks: integrate soil processes, water dynamics, hydrological interactions, and land use patterns, providing a holistic view of agricultural systems.
  • Climate Resilience in Agriculture: investigate the role of integrated models in assessing and enhancing the climate resilience of agricultural landscapes, considering the impacts of changing climate patterns on soil moisture, water availability, and hydrological cycles.
  • Precision Agriculture and Modeling Precision: explore the integration of precision agriculture technologies into comprehensive models, emphasizing how high-resolution data and sensor networks contribute to more accurate predictions and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Quantifying the Impact of Land Use Changes: examine the influence of land use changes on soil properties, water quality, and hydrological processes, and assess how models can be utilized to predict and manage the consequences of evolving land use patterns in agriculture.
  • Water-Efficient Agricultural Practices: highlight modeling studies that propose and evaluate water-efficient agricultural practices, including optimized irrigation strategies, soil moisture management, and the use of cover crops to reduce erosion and enhance water retention.

We look forward to receiving your original research articles and reviews.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Land is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
