Desertification Impacts on Land Use

Dear Colleagues,

Desertification is the loss of the natural productive potential of a territory, as a consequence of climatic variations and inadequate land use. It compromises both the survival of economic and ecological systems. Understanding the causes of this process, anticipating its acute phases, and restoring lost land is key to maintaining or achieving the well-being of society and enabling the achievement of several SDGs, especially target 15.3 (combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation).

The goal of this Special Issue is to collect papers (original research articles and review papers) that provide insights into the impacts of desertification on land use.  Authors are encouraged to submit innovative and original contributions in the following, but not exclusive, priority areas:

• Historical and present desertification and its impact on land use;
• The prevention and control of desertification, and its reduction;
• The impact of land use on desertification and society.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Land is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
