Laser Surface Modification Technology for Materials Sciences

Dear Colleagues,

We cordially invite you to contribute to the Materials MDPI journal’s Special Issue on “Laser Surface Modification Technology for Materials Sciences”, which focuses on the utilization of laser-based techniques and methods in the field of materials science. A more in-depth understanding of the fundamental mechanisms underlying laser-induced changes in materials is made possible via findings addressing surface alterations, which improve or alter the properties of materials depending on their application. We highly encourage submissions of papers that emphasise experimental studies on the laser synthesis and processing of thin films, composite materials, nanoparticles, polymers, and biocompatible materials. Due to the widespread use of lasers in modern research and development, the themes also include theoretical approaches and  the modelling and simulation of laser–surface interactions. Finally, review articles pertaining to the topics of interest are encouraged.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
