Microstructure, Mechanical Properties and Tribological Behaviors of Coating Systems

Dear Colleagues,

Functional coating is an effective way to prevent metal materials from wear, corrosion, radiation and oxidation damage, especially under extreme conditions. The primary goal of this Special Issue is to present recent trends in surface coating systems, from microstructure, mechanical and tribological points of view.

This Special Issue on “Microstructure, Mechanical Properties and Tribological Behaviors of Coating Systems” will include recent innovations and developments on the following types of advanced coating systems: self-healing coatings, biomimetic coatings, advanced mechanical properties, multi-layer gradient structure, tribological properties under extreme conditions, self-lubricating technology and wear-resistance coatings and composites.

We welcome the submission of research papers as well as review articles.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
