Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript entitled “applsci-1864745” dealing with machine learning in a two-phase flow pattern has been reviewed. The paper has been nicely written but needs significant improvement. Please follow my comments.

1.     Please add a brief statement on your methodology in the abstract.

2.     Add more detail about your work to the last paragraph of the introduction.

3.     Please mention what was the novelty of the research and add a statement to the introduction.

4.     Section 3.1. Feature extraction methodology. This section is too short. Add more materials and explain it.

5.     Add scalebar to figure 4. “Photo and diagram…”

6.     Add more detail to the conclusion and explain how your findings can support the text.

7.     Machine learning has different applications in industries like additive manufacturing. Authors are encouraged to read and add the four following new papers related to the application of machine learning in additive manufacturing.

·       The effect of absorption ratio on meltpool features in laser-based powder bed fusion of IN718

·       Modeling residual thermal stresses in layer-by-layer formation of direct metal laser sintering process for different scanning patterns for 316L stainless steel

·       Fused filament fabrication of nylon 6/66 copolymer: Parametric study comparing full factorial and Taguchi design of experiments

·       Sustainable design guidelines for additive manufacturing applications
