Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript is interesting and valuable both from a scientific and engineering point of view. The relevance is shown by the fact that the research was dictated by a practical task.

All parts of the manuscript are related to each other. The conclusions and abstract are fully consistent with the conducted research and the obtained results. The text is arranged neatly and clearly, but there are syntax and language errors. Formulas do not maintain the same character format, indices are written only as lowercase letters. But the general manuscript is good.

Relying on the shallow buried section of Botanggou Tunnel at the exit end of Qinhuangdao, the paper explores the pre-reinforcementmechanism of surface infiltration grouting by means of theoretical analysis, experimental research, and on-site monitoring, which has a good reference value for the implementation of other similar projects.

The article has the following problems.

According to the injected medium, the grouting materials for different strata are proposed, but they are not considered separately in the subsequent grouting design and construction. Please explain the reasons for not considering them separately.

When monitoring the deformation during excavation in Section 7.2, where is the selected monitoring section located in the shallow buried section? The description is required.

In Section 4, ultra-fine cement slurry is selected to reinforce the lower stratum. Is its specific flow pattern consistent with that of ordinary cement slurry?

After explanation or modification of the above issues, it is recommended that they be published in this journal.

Reviewer 3 Report

This paper introduces and analyzes the Pre-reinforcement Mechanism and Effect Analysis of Surface Infiltration Grouting with a typical project, especially the practical engineering problems in detail. It has certain application value and can be referred to by technical personnel. However, the overall innovation of the paper is not so great as some conventional research methods. The main opinions and suggestions are as follows:

(1) In the previous part of the paper, the research point grouting mechanism was considered as infiltration grouting grouting, but from the pictures of the final grout and slurry veins, it was more consistent with split grouting and compaction grouting;

(2) The data of grouting pressure were collected in the process of grouting, but only a simple analysis was carried out in this paper. It should be analyzed whether the data conforms to the mechanism of infiltration grouting introduced above.

(3) It is suggested to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the grouting process according to the collected data of grouting pressure and flow rate.
