Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript entitled "Cryoconcentration by centrifugation-filtration: A simultaneous,  efficient, and innovative method to increase thermosensitive bioactive compounds of aqueous maqui (Aristotelia chilensis (Mol.) Stuntz) extract" reports study that evaluates the cryoconcentration process by centrifugation-filtration as a simultaneous, efficient, and innovative method to increase the content of thermosensitive bioactive compounds. The authors state that cryoconcentration by centrifugation-filtration as a simultaneous process efficiently separates the solutes from the frozen matrix of aqueous maqui extract, and increases the contents of polyphenols and anthocyanins and antioxidant capacity.

The manuscript can be accepted, however, there are some points to clarify.

1 - Scheme 1

Please improve the scheme. It is possible to use a small scheme using the same information.  I think that is possible to add some colors, not only for scheme 1, but for scheme 2 too.

3 - Table 1

For some odd reason, it is possible to read only the names of the compounds. Please correct it. Anyway, please, it is suitable to show the structures of the cited compounds to increase the visibility of the manuscript.

4 - Figures 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Please, improve these figures.

Reviewer 2 Report

In my opinion, this article is well written although has poor originality.

Comments:

-Scheme 1 should be modified since it does not look right in the manuscript.

- Table 1 is not shown in the manuscript.

- Section 2.7.2. quantification and identification of anthocyanins. The authors should indicate how the identification and quantification of anthocyanins has been carried out.

- Title section 2.7. Determination of bioactive compounds should be corrected since maqui could present other bioactivie compounds as well as phenolic compouns.

- Figure 3 shows the chromatograms of at 520 nm of cryoconcentrate and concentrates by evaporation at 70 C and 80ºC. This figure should be revised since the cromatogram of cryoconcentrate (figure 3a) presents less signal than figrue 3b and 3c, so that there is a contradiction with the following discussion.

- The authors have only identified anthocyanins in the maqui but this fruit could contain other phenolic compounds, such as flavanols and flavonols.

- Table 2. The letters that shows the significant differences should be revised since these are not placed in order of magnitude and it is confused. The total of anthocyanins could be included in this table.

- The number of references is extense it could be reduced.
