Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With global attention on environmental protection and sustainable energy development, the market demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is gradually increasing. As one of the key components, the electrical machine in electric vehicles has achieved intensive development and more technological innovations are anticipated. The main directions of this innovation and development include increasing their efficiency, power, intelligence, and diversity, reducing their weight, as well as improving their comfort and safety. The achievement of these objectives may involve next-generation machine topology, innovative research on control strategies, new techniques in magnetics and field analysis, and advanced technologies for power electronic converters and inverters.

This Special Issue aims to present current state-of-the-art research addressing the design and control of electrical machines within the context of electric vehicle applications. We encourage researchers in this field to contribute their original papers and share their technical achievements. The subjects of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • New machine topology of electric machines;
  • Innovative machine design and analysis methods;
  • Multiobjective optimization of electric machines in EVs;
  • Vibration and noise suppression technology of electric machines;
  • Efficient and reliable control of EV power trains;
  • Power electronic devices in EV machine applications;
  • New technologies related to EV motor and drive integration;
  • Applications of hub motors or multimotor systems in EVs;
  • Other advanced technologies related to the modeling, design, and control of electric machines in EVs.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
