Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The scope of this Special Issue covers a broad range of topics with regard to current and innovative technologies used to process various types of biomass. The main focus of the issue is biobased product formation, including renewable (bio)energy; precursors for the production of pharmaceuticals; commodity chemicals and solvents; and innovative processes used to convert biomass into these products, including hydrothermal and thermochemical pretreatment, reductive catalysis, hydrolysis, fermentation, fractionation, and anaerobic digestion. The proposed processes are applicable to a wide variety of biomasses, and studies are currently exploring new developments in innovative feedstocks. The research described within this issue connects the fields of engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, catalysis, and biotechnology.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
