Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Recently, as part of a worldwide trend towards renewable energy, solar cells have established themselves as a promising renewable energy due to their rapid technological development and cost reduction. Solar cells studies have been conducted with the priority of improving efficiency and stability, utilizing technologies from various industries, such as the semiconductor and display industries. Consequently, the efficiency of solar cells, close to the limit theory, has been recorded. For example, solar cells using organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite materials have achieved rapid efficiency improvement, recording the highest efficiency of 25.5% as well as typical commercialized Si solar cells, recording the highest efficiency of 26.7%.

This Special Issue, “State of the art solar cells”, aims to reflect recent developments in photovoltaic field included organic or inorganic or hybrid materials, and to present new advances and state of the art in solar cells that enable the development of future solar cells.

Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
