Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Gene and Cell Therapy involves two aspects: gene therapy and cell therapy. Gene therapy is the use of genetic material in the treatment or prevention of disease. The transferred genetic material changes how a single protein or group of proteins is produced by the cell. Cell therapy is a method that uses the patient's own or donor cells to stimulate an immune response or cell regeneration to kill pathogens and tumor cells. It includes immune cell therapy, stem cell therapy, and somatic cell therapy.

In the past few decades, the research on gene and cell therapy has developed rapidly and this is now emerging as an alternative therapy for many diseases. We aim to showcase the gene and cell therapy field in our Biomedicines journal by launching this Special Issue. Review articles on topics related (but not limited) to the above-mentioned areas (including reviews on gene and cell therapy in tumors, genetic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases, and some rare diseases) are all welcome. Reviews have to most up-to-date and focus on the development of recent 10 years.
