Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue will present selected papers from the China Rare Earth Society 2020 Annual Conference and Jiangxi (Ganzhou) Rare Earth Resources Green Development and Efficient Utilization Conference (Session 9—Thermal Protection Materials).

In order to carry out high-level academic and technical exchange in the field of rare earth; lead the development of the rare earth discipline; build an exchange platform of production, learning, research, and application; strengthen the innovation of rare earth science and technology; promote the popularization, transformation, and industrialization of rare earth scientific and technological achievements; and help the development of rare earth industry in Ganzhou City, the China Rare Earth Society, Jiangxi Science and Technology Association, and Ganzhou Municipal People’s Government organized the “China Rare Earth Society 2020 Annual Conference and Jiangxi (Ganzhou) Rare Earth Resources Green Development and Efficient Utilization Conference” (http://www.cs-re.org.cn/meeting/2020CSRE/).

This conference served as a forum for exchange; showcased the latest progress and achievements in rare earth basic research, applied research, and industrialization; and promoted communication and contact between academic and industrial circles. Discussions were held on the research progress in rare earth development and environmental protection, rare earth materials, and rare earth application, both presenting the latest research results and reflecting the technical needs of enterprises. The areas of basic research, material preparation/processing technology, application and performance evaluation, and analysis and testing technology were all addressed.

The meeting awarded rare earth science and technology awards, invited well-known experts to make conference reports, conducted academic branch meeting report exchange and wall newspaper exchange, held the “High-Level Forum on Rare Earth Resources Green Development and Efficient Utilization” session, and organized meetings for the promotion of rare earth science and technology achievements. At the same time, the “2020 Rare Earth Science and Technology Innovation and Application” exhibition was held, including the “Advanced Experimental Technology Service Exhibition” and the “Rare Earth Development and Application Technology Innovation Exhibition”.

The topics of Session 9—Thermal Protection Materials were as follows:

  • Thermal Barrier Coatings;
  • Environmental Barrier Coatings;
  • Infrared Radiation Materials;
  • Coating Materials;
  • Coating Failure Analysis;
  • Coating Preparation Technology.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Abstract
Rare earth luminescent material CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ (CEu) was applied and modified with (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (KH550) to obtain two types of rare earth conversion agents, CEu and KH550-modified CEu (KCEu). Rare earth luminescent material CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ (CEu) was applied and modified with (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (KH550) to obtain two types of rare earth conversion agents, CEu and KH550-modified CEu (KCEu). Two kinds of polylactide (PLA) conversion films were successfully prepared through solution blending. The results showed that the addition of rare earth complex increases the crystallinity of PLA. More importantly, both PLA/CEu and PLA/KCEu films showed good red-light conversion ability, which can accelerate plant growth. Full article
