Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

A growing body of literature in higher education emphasizes the pivotal role of feedback within the assessment process, contributing significantly to enhancing the quality of students' learning. The way students perceive feedback and the learning context in which it is delivered greatly affect the impact of assessment on learning outcomes. Timely, relevant and constructive feedback can empower students to assume more responsibility for their learning, as they become active participants in the process, and to determine the effectiveness of feedback. In today's rapidly evolving educational landscape, technology is fundamentally reshaping the way we teach and learn. To harness the full potential of these innovations, it is crucial to re-evaluate and adapt our approaches to assessment and feedback. Educational technologies, including learning management systems, interactive apps, and artificial intelligence, have brought about a shift from traditional classroom settings to online and blended learning environments. As a result, educational institutions are faced with the challenge of modernizing their assessment and feedback strategies to meet the needs of learners. The objective of this Special Issue is to promote scientific discourse on the integration of technology in the educational process, particularly concerning assessment and feedback in higher education. We are interested in the exploration of several topics related to educational technologies for formative assessment; assessment and feedback in blended learning environments; formative feedback in real time; challenges and ethical considerations associated with educational technologies; and faculty development for technology-enhanced assessment and equity in assessment.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Education Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
