Genomics Study of Tumorigenesis and Metastasis

Dear Colleagues,

Tumorigenesis and metastasis are complex processes that involve significant cellular heterogeneity and intricate interactions between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment. Genomics studies, particularly transcriptomics, genomics and epigenomics, have provided valuable insights into these processes. These studies have identified metastasis-specific events of single-nucleotide variations and gene amplifications in well-known oncogenic drivers. Mutations in critical genes, such as TP53 which plays a key role in cell cycle regulation, have been associated with increased metastatic potential. These mutations are thought to destabilize cancer cell genomes, leading to chromosomal aberrations that promote metastasis. While these studies offer a valuable foundation for personalized precision treatments and further research, a deeper understanding of the complex mechanisms underlying metastasis remains crucial.
