Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) are used to assess inner ear function across the lifespan. There are many applications for OAEs including, but not limited to, differential diagnosis, monitoring, and screening. Emerging applications in specialized clinical patients to population health opportunities drive the need for optimization of this tool. Translation of exciting new developments in calibration, optimizing collection parameters, measuring extended frequency bandwidths, and analysis are just some of the opportunities to advance the adoption of OAEs into clinical practice. Remote and telehealth OAE testing options are of particular interest in the current global environment. As the applications of OAE measures expand, there is a critical need to translate research findings into practice. Given the relative ease of acquiring OAE measurements, this metric of cochlear health is becoming widespread beyond those that specialize in auditory function. For these reasons, a resource for the measurement and interpretation of OAE results for clinical populations is essential. Papers addressing OAEs as metrics for sites of lesion testing, including auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder, tinnitus, virus detection, intracranial pressure, efferent function, and hearing genomics, monitoring for use in clinical trials, solvent, noise, and/or ototoxic drug exposure, as well as screening applications from newborns through school-aged children to adulthood are all welcome for this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2500 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
