Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rate of infertility is rising worldwide, with the latest data from a recent report, published by the WHO earlier in 2023, stating that the lifetime prevalence of infertility in the adult population is 17.5%, which roughly equates to around 1 in 6 people globally having experienced infertility at some stage in their lives. The rapidly evolving advancements in the science and expertise dedicated to assisted reproductive technologies should aim to target the challenges that this data brings about, especially with the increasing trend in the modern world of people seeking fertility at an older age. Updates in individualizing ovarian stimulation treatment protocols, gamete donation programs, treatment of endometriosis and advancements in the management of uterine factors including adenomyosis, are classic examples, whilst newer concepts include the paternal contribution and the role of epigenetics towards embryo development, and ovarian rejuvenation techniques. The scope of this Special Issue is to provide a homogeneity of data and updated evidence which can be used by clinicians and laboratory scientists worldwide to improve the clinical reproductive outcomes of an increasingly infertile population. Researchers in these fields of reproductive medicine are encouraged to submit original articles or reviews to this Special Issue (excluding case reports and short reviews).
