Metabolites and Gut Microbiota: Their Influence on Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex and prevalent metabolic disorder that significantly impacts global health. The interplay between metabolites and the gut microbiota plays a crucial role in the development and progression of T2D. In this Special Issue, we invite researchers to share their latest progress in defining the relationship between metabolites and the gut microbiota and their collective influence on T2D.

Our Special Issue welcomes researchers, scientists, and experts from diverse fields, including metabolomics, microbiology, and clinical medicine, to contribute original research articles, reviews, and insights investigating the intricate mechanisms linking metabolites, gut microbiota composition as well as function, and the development of T2D. We encourage submissions that explore novel diagnostic biomarkers, therapeutic interventions, and preventive strategies arising from the intersection of metabolomics and microbiota research.
