Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world, responsible for 9.5 million deaths in 2020. This number is estimated to increase to 13.2 million deaths in 2030. The incidence of cancer varies depending on the region of the world. Low-income countries have lower incidence rates, but they also have higher mortality rates.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is emerging as a revolutionary weapon in the fight against cancer. This Special Issue delves into the cutting-edge advancements in PDT, showcasing its potential to transform cancer treatment. PDT has the potential to become a more effective and less toxic treatment for cancer. As research continues, PDT may become a more widely available treatment option for cancer patients.

PDT has the potential to significantly increase cure rates and improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

In this Special Issue, we aim to draw together research from experts in the field that highlight therapeutic agents and strategies in PDT and identify future directions that will lead to discoveries and therapies for cancer.
