Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The surging popularity of wireless sensor networks (WSN) is being propelled by rapid advances in hardware/software technologies, smaller size of sensors, increased connectivity, ease of mobility, and societal needs. Its powerful data acquisition and processing capabilities have significantly influenced our way of living, which has become more pervasive, more relevant, and more accessible. Currently, WSNs have found their way into a host of other applications such as energy systems, air and water quality monitoring systems, health monitoring systems, smart cities (traffic control, environmental monitoring, parking system), smart grids, autonomous vehicles, and Industry 4.0.

This Special Issue aims to accommodate research articles that are related to the most recent stages of technological development and future prospects of WSN applications. Specifically, contributions that address but are not restricted to the following topics are welcome:

  • Wireless sensor network architecture and protocols;
  • Emerging and current standards in wireless sensor networks;
  • Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks for smart grid and smart city applications;
  • Mesh network architecture for smart grid and smart city deployments;
  • Wide area wireless sensor networks;
  • LTE/4G/5G based wireless sensor networks for smart city;
  • Wireless sensor networks for vehicular applications in smart cities;
  • Low power wireless sensor network;
  • Simulation Tools for WSN and IoT networks dedicated to Smart-cities;
  • Digital Twin tools for cybersecurity of smart critical infrastructures: IoT, Smart Cities and Grids;
  • Datascience (Datamining and Multidimensional Statistical modelling);
  • Pseudo-polygons for WSN/IoT security and cybersecurity.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
